Well, I think I was lucky to catch this show, because if I’m not wrong, I caught the last screening on the big screen. And at least, for 130 minutes, I think it’s just damn worth it.

Here’s the plot – The Suzuran Senior High School for Boys, nicknamed ‘The School of Crows’, is the poorest achieving, most violent school in the country. The students are called ‘crows’ as they band together in factions, battling each other for power. Oguri plays the role of Genji Takiya, a transfer student who attempts to take over the school and is mentored by old boy yakuza Katagiri (Kyosuke Yabe) as he faces off against rival Serizawa (Takayuki Yamada).

This movie does pack a punch – literally. The effects are good, with all the slow motion fighting that does remind you a little of 300. And yes, I definitely missed fighting. They do really prove a few things in this show. Like in the world of Suzuran, the only way to rule Suzuran is by the strength of the fist, in other worlds, fighting – literally. The actors are all generally good-looking (girls, this is really quite true). The movie will also teach you a couple of actions and postures of a yakuza or yakuza wannabe, with hands in your pockets as well as walking like duck flapping their webbed feet around. Oh, and the fight scenes are sure scary. Like it’s really violent fist fight. But I also learnt a few things. Possess a never say die attitude and you will gain respect. Others like you can try to be a yakuza, but eventually, being a yakuza ain’t easy at all.

Don’t worry – for guys, there’s not only fighting that you are interested aren’t you. The female lead’s not bad looking at all. And she proved to be a pivotal role indirectly causing the war between 2 gangs. Nice.

Overall, I love this movie, and with the movie at 130 minutes, it made my 7 dollars all the more worth it. And how I missed fist fighting – literally. Lol. Because in this show, it’s just fighting, punching, fighting and more punching. =)

Senseless.

Why? After passing the inaugural driving test just to earn that bloody official card, I was told by my dad that for anyone below the age of 26, who drives and got themselves into a car accident, is not liable to claim the insurance unless the owner of the car is there to supervise or whatever. To me, this law is rather redundant and stupid.

Let me explain a few scenarios to go with. Firstly, what if you do not have parents? Do you need me to put your dad or mum’s tomb just beside your driver’s seat to supervise where you will turn? I do not know but if the car owner is you, then you need not have any supervision at all. But, it’s just weird to go with. Secondly, if your dad owns the car, and you need to use it, but at the same time, both your parents are working. How do you expect them to be along with you all the time? Like the first scenario, where they are “supposingly” beside you by soul? Come on.

Thirdly, what if your grandma is sick and needs a lift to the hospital immediately, and your parents are in KL for some business trip? You wait till they come back? Lastly, it is all the more senseless to ask me to get my driving licence when I can only drive ALONE at 26. Then why waste my money now to get a licence, knowing that the chances of myself driving alone is at an improbable low and at the same time forget all my driving skills? I might as well wait till 26.

And it will be so darn mindless to actually think that this rule can discourage people below the age of 26 to drive and not get into accidents. What if the above mentioned scenarios all happened? And what if the accident wasn’t your fault and it was the motherf*cker behind you that bumped into you car ass? Eventually, people below 26 will still drive because their parents are not always there to be seated next to you and be your streetdirectory.com or traffic police. And does that help? No. Because it’s ultimately up to the driver to be safe personally. Well, if you are and if you are the safe driver type, then I believe your parents should actually be more trusting to you and your driving skills.

Actually, all the above is up to one to see whether you have the confidence in your driving or not. And my dad, being a strict yet kiasee (scared to die) person, he will definitely NOT permit me to drive alone. But in that case, I might as well save up my cash and wait till 26. Let’s wait and see. By then, don’t ask me to fetch any of you because I might end up at BBDC revising and picking back my skills to drive. LOL.
