Woah. Really. Woah.
The plot – Will Smith plays an alcoholic superhero named Hancock, somebody that absolutely everybody loves to hate. Hancock’s well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. One day, he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman) who helps to rehabilitate him. However, Hancock begins to have an affair with the publicist’s wife, Mary (Charlize Theron) instead.
Hancock isn’t trying too hard to be lavish like “Iron Man”. But in turn, this movie was really well made. A solid, humourous superhero movie that can come across. It’s like – Cloverfield plus Mission Impossible 3 plus Spiderman style. Ok la, not that exaggerating, but you will get what I mean until you watch it.
Basically, the role of everyone was given a chance to shine. Be it the supporting actor, be it Will Smith, all have their equal screenplay. And there are really a few moments of laughter that could really make you chuckle, and some parts that really gets into your head. Oh, and how I love the special effects really.
The end was almost as good as drama and melancholy, drifting a little away from the superhero plot, but did well with the right background scores. Plus the feeling of a different type of superhero movie, it does stands out as one of the best that I have seen.
In all, the director did well to make this movie rather innovative, which most superhero movies lack. In addition to that, the movie does really pack some superhero action with humour. I would love to see this movie again if I could. It almost brought me to tears at the end. But how I love this movie.
